Christmas Party Inspiration

Words by Karishma Ravalia

With ‘the big day’ fast approaching we’re all in search of the perfect party outfit to ‘wow’ at this year’s Christmas-do. Here at SHULife Fashion we know how intense this time of year is with presents, days out and party’s all pulling at your purse strings. So here are a few of our fave looks to give you some inspiration…

Sparkles

Sparkles and glitter are massive trends this winter and there are so many sparkly dresses out there. But here’s our favourite:

New Look Glitter DressThis dress is amazing; it’s perfect for a party. You’ll definitely stand out but for the right reasons. Gold is a party colour, and sticking to the Christmas theme, there’s also a red one. The V-neck cut back compliments the high neck front and shows off that little bit more skin; elegant but flirty.

Keep the accessories to a minimal and let the dress do the talking. You’ll definitely shine like a disco ball in this.

Lace

I have to advise – wear lace with caution. Sometimes it can look a little cheap but if you find the right dress and accessories and style it well, it can be a great look. So, here’s a lace dress for your parties.

BooHoo Lace dressThe half lace, half material combo is what drew me to this dress. It makes it an elegant dress you would wear to a party and not just one you’d wear on a night out. Red again – the party season colour – fear not there are other colours available. The high neck makes this dress classy as well but the lace part acts as a cover and still keeps it flirty.

Minimal accessories and a contrasting bag (as shown) are the way forward.

The Black Dress

There are so many black dresses out there but sometimes simple ones are the best. Here’s a simple black dress (SBD if you will) that with the right accessories will look totally different.

H&M Black DressSuch a simple dress but what drew me in was the stud detail on the top. It’s quite rock chick-y but don’t let that scare you. Team this dress with a gold belt and a smart casual thin jacket – pretty much any colour would work – and you’ve got yourself a party ready outfit.

Go a bit crazy on jewellery. Try a chunky necklace, a statement bracelet/watch/bangle on one hand and loads of little bracelets on the other. It’ll compliment the simplicity of the dress. You’ll have turned a simple outfit into a party one.

Long Dress

If you’re not a fan of short dresses, then here’s a long one for you. Long dresses can be hard to do because you don’t want to make it look too prom-y or too casual. This is our pick.

Long DressThis is a great option for a long party dress. The half see-through skirt makes it elegant yet sexy. The waist detail makes the dress stand out and turns it from a simple dress into party one.

Accessorize it up with a statement bangle or bracelet on one hand and a watch on the other. A contrasting colour bag would definitely make the dress stand out even more. This dress doesn’t need a lot to make it party ready just a few bits.

If dresses aren’t for you, you could always try a skirt and top combo or some faux leather leggings and a top. There’s always something out there. You just need to look.
