Continued Arena Issues See Steelers Game Moved

Due to the continued repairs at Sheffield’s Motorpoint Arena, Sheffield Steelers will now play Belfast Giants at Ice Sheffield this Sunday.
Officials hoped the game would be played at the Steelers’ usual Arena home after the original leak was found and repaired but unfortunately, work on making the ice has not commenced as planned.
In a statement, Sheffield Steelers made it clear that they and the Arena understand the supporters’ frustrations and are working around the clock to rectify all the problems.
Steelers owner Tony Smith said, “I can only apologise to all of our supporters who have been so patient with ourselves and the arena these past three weeks. We had really hoped that this Sunday would see us return to the arena. The blow we received today has knocked us all back…The Steelers have played over 700 games at the Motorpoint Arena in that time over 3.5M supporters have enjoyed games in the league’s leading facility. Since the clubs conception this is the first time that games have had to be cancelled. I please ask that all fans accept that the Arena, SIV and the Steelers are doing everything in their power to ensure that the ice is ready for action for the Steelers games Vs Cardiff Devils on Saturday 27th September.”
The game, which is a 5pm face off, will now be an Ice Sheffield Season Ticket game and count as one of the six games on the Ice Sheffield Season Ticket. All other tickets will now be refunded.
Tickets for the re-arranged game at Ice Sheffield went on sale today to all ARENA season ticket holders who will have until 12 noon tomorrow to acquire their tickets. After this, any remaining tickets will go on general sale.
