Mother’s Day

Well it’s Mother’s Day today, we hope you’ve spoilt her rottern.
However if you’ve not had time to get a present, fear not SHUlife brings you a list of last-minute buys or different gift ideas to make Mother’s Day special.

1) Flowersflowers
A very obvious choice, however flowers look beautiful and are a perfect way to brighten up a day. Whilst flowers tend to rocket in price around Mother’s Day Debenhams do lovely bouquets and if you’re in a last minute rush  teleflorist do same day deliveries from your local florists to your door. Perfect!

2) Chocolateschocolates
Again another popular choice for Mother’s Day, however with Sheffield’s chocolate shop Cocoa Wonderland on Ecclesall Road there are beautiful hand-made chocolates to make her feel special. Thorntons is a safe choice too and caters for diabetics.

3) Winewine
Rose, white, red…what better way to relax and unwind then with a nice refreshing bottle of your favourite wine?
If she doesn’t like wine a bottle of her favourite tipple would work a treat all the same.

4) Spa Dspaay
Treat your Mum to a relaxing day of pampering at a spa. This doesn’t have to cost the world as many sites like Groupon, Voucher Codes and Money Supermarket all help make Spa Days affordable and you can grab some really good deals. Failing that a nice massage in your local beauty salon would be an indulging treat.
tickets
5) Tickets
Looking for something a little more thoughtful than flowers or chocolates? Then how about tickets to her favourite show, or to see her favourite artist/ band? It’s thoughtful and will be a fun day out for her to look forward to in the future.

scrap book6) Scrapbook
For the sentimental Mums out there scrap booking is a brilliant (and inexpensive) way to show you care and she’ll love the thought and effort gone into this. You can buy materials from a wide range of places: scrap booking magazines, craft books, Paperchase, WH Smiths, Boots etc all you have to do is dig out the old photographs (if you dare) and arrange them into a book of memories for her.

Cup of tea with a biscuit7) “I have no money.”
Your Mum will more than likely understand this is the issue for most students and will just be glad to see you. A phone call home, surprise visit or chat on Skype wishing her a Happy Mother’s Day would suffice, she probably just wants to see you and make sure you’re in one piece!
If you’re at home try cooking a nice meal and if your Mum is like mine, they’ll love a good cuppa to accompany.
